Position Title: Web Design Engineer –Contract position, project based
Location: Newton, MA (flexible)
Position Summary
Web Design Engineer is a contract position reporting to the VP of Marketing. Web Design Engineer is responsible for leading a complete reorganization of company’s web sites including lightwedge.com and greatpointlight.com with a particular focus on the company’s ecommerce site biggerandbrighter.com. On a project basis, main duties include, determining the best way to reorganize these sites and ultimately reposition the company’s overall web presence with a clear, concise brand. As part of this project, the Web Content Engineer would be responsible for identifying and executing profitable practices, business development activities, partnerships and promotional opportunities to further traffic, revenue and profitability goals of Bigger & Brighter.
Responsibilities:
- Reorganize brand web sites including .lightwedge.com, .greatpointlight.com and .biggerandbrighter.com .
- Partner with marketing team to develop brand web sites, and ensure maximum operating efficiencies, brand/visual identity and messaging consistency across all 3 web sites.
- Ensure maximum operating efficiencies between the web sites.
- Further develop and manage the Bigger & Brighter brand by increasing traffic, revenue and growth of .biggerandbrighter.com .
- Identify opportunities for process improvements on Bigger & Brighter and ensure that information on the site is represented in a clear and concise manner.
Skills Required:
- 3+ years experience in ecommerce management, including responsibility for goal setting, budgeting, new site design, promotion, planning, site usability, user interface, etc.
- Significant hands-on experience in web site design and development, with a strong understanding of multimedia technologies such as Flash and web technologies such as HTML and CSS a plus.
- Ability to work independently, with a high degree of initiative in resolving, developing and implementing problem resolutions.
- Experience managing a consumer products website is a big plus.
- Experience with ecommerce or drop shipment fulfillment is a plus.
- Great conceptual and creative mind with commitment to high quality and brand integrity.
- Strong design skills and relentless attention to details.
- Experience interpreting analytical data, metrics, surveys and other measures of success for the web. Ability to convert data findings into actionable opportunities for improvement in key areas.
- Proven ability to problem-solve and produce results in entrepreneurial, fast-paced business environment. Ability to work well under pressure, handling several deadline projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, professionalism and a positive attitude.
Experience/Education Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science or related field. M.B.A. or related graduate degree preferred. Significant related experience in web site design and development, ecommerce management and marketing.
